Post-surgery – Dos and Don’ts after abdominoplasty

1- After abdominoplasty, you cannot drive for a while and will need a driver and companion, but you do not need to worry about it, tehranmt.com will be your companion and driver.
2- You will be given necessary instructions for emptying and protecting drains.
3- After Tummy tuck, you will suffer from pain for 3 days that will be controlled by the pain relievers.
4- Swelling will be intensified in the first three days after surgery in day hours and will be reduced after three days.
5- A little excretion of fluids and serous fluid from drains is normal in the first days, but in case you see bleeding (not serous fluid), or suffer from severe pain, please contact the physician.
6- You will be given necessary instructions for emptying and protecting drains.
7- Avoid taking complete rest because it causes blood clotting particularly in feet.
8- You are advised to keep your pillow up the bed by about 50 degrees in the early days of rest and sleep in semi-fowler’s position with bent knees.
9- In the first two weeks, you should lie on the back or lie in lateral position. You should keep your head a little upper and it would be better to keep your knees a bit bent.
10- Generally drains will be taken out 2 to 7 days after surgery and the stitches will be removed, if necessary.
11- Dependent on your body condition, you can start your routine activities after one to three weeks but heavy physical exercise for at least 2 months is not permitted.
12- Based on the physician’s opinion, you need Abdominal Binder between 4 to 6 weeks and your physician will tell you when you start wearing it.
13- Intense sexual and non-sexual excitement may cause bleeding by increasing blood pressure. Avoid any intense excitement at least for 1 week.
14- Avoid traveling by air 2 or 3 weeks after surgery.
